Just before Christmas, Mikayla and her gorgeous joey Sharon were hit by a car. Fortunately, they were rescued and taken to Port Stephens Koala Hospital.  Mikayla took most of the impact and, although also being hit, Sharon was successfully treated and released back to the wild when old enough to take care of herself.

Mikayla’s injuries were much more serious, with fractures to her jaw, nose and shoulder.  After emergency surgery and ongoing treatment and care, Mikayla is much better and enjoying life as a permanent resident of the Hospital sanctuary, where she continues on her path to recovery.
