Our reception desk is staffed up to 6 days per week (Monday to Saturday).  In addition to answering the phones and responding to emails, the reception volunteers provide support to:

  • staff and volunteers working onsite
  • volunteers who may work offsite at, for example, market stalls, education presentations, etc.
  • liaison with the general public and external agencies via telephone and emails.

The Reception desk is staffed during the following shifts:

  • Monday to Friday 9.00am – 12.30pm and from 12.30pm – 3.30pm, and
  • Saturday 9.00am -12.30pm.

As an administration/reception volunteer, you won’t need to be available for every shift but you must be committed to work a full morning or afternoon shift (depending on your availability).

We will of course provide you with training necessary until you find your feet and are comfortable with the work and surrounds.  A knowledge of desktop computer and the Microsoft suite of products will be an advantage.

Other and varied tasks that you will be involved with include:

  • Telephone calls: answering calls and actioning enquiries (or forwarding them to the appropriate person),
  • Emails: responding to and forwarding emails to appropriate people and departments
  • Printing and laminating forms and documents
  • Managing meeting room bookings
  • Managing volunteer guest visits
  • Retails sales: accepting payments for merchandise, clothing etc, and
  • General tidying tasks, etc.
