The Sanctuary is operated by Port Stephens Council as a tourist and accommodation destination.
A visit to the Port Stephens Koala Sanctuary will enable you to view koalas currently in our care and you may also be lucky enough to see a koala being treated from the viewing window at the hospital.
The Sanctuary and Hospital can both be found at 562 Gan Gan Road, One Mile, NSW. While the Sanctuary offers visitors the opportunity to see and stay with the animals, the Port Stephens Koala Hospital is responsible for all care and rehabilitation of koalas, wombats and other wildlife from the Port Stephens area and surrounds.
Injured, sick and recovering koalas are cared for at the Hospital, where Resident Veterinarian Dr. Donald Hudson oversees a team who provide highly specialised care depending on the needs of each animal.
As a not-for-profit organisation, the Hospital relies on your support. We have a range of adorable koala-themed products to purchase in our online shop with proceeds going towards the hospital, as well as ways to donate funds directly, become a sponsor, or Adopt a Koala.
We rely on adoptions and donations to help save koalas and other native wildlife. As we are a not-for-profit organisation, your generosity will help to cover the inevitable costs.
We have Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status which makes it easier for us to fundraise to support the ongoing work of Port Stephens Koala Hospital.
