Being involved in the Rescue Team at PSKH can be a very rewarding one but also very demanding. You may be required to be available 24 hours, 7 days, 52 weeks a year as unfortunately, koalas don’t wait until daylight to need our help.
Koala rescue training is not held on a regular basis so if you are interested in this area, then we suggest that you first commence training as a koala carer to help you fully understand the correct way to handle and care for sick or injured koalas, before joining the rescue team.
Or you may prefer to be a Rescue Phone Operator. This role also operates 24/7 but at least you can do this from home. As you will be taking calls from the general public, good communication is essential as you will be required to pass on the information regarding the location of a sick or injured koala to our rescue team in a clear and concise manner.
Rest assured that full training will be provided but this is only done on an as needed basis or when there is a sufficient number volunteers interested in the role.
