Koala Name: Gill
Rescued: July 2023
Released: July 2023
Reason Gill came into care: A member of the public found Gill close to a busy local road and, being a small joey, was concerned that she had sustained injuries through a motor vehicle incident. Following consultation with our experienced phone operators, Gill was brought into Port Stephens Koala Hospital to receive a health check to make sure she did not have any injuries that were not visible.
Treatment provided: Gill was given the same health check that all our animals receive upon admission to the Hospital, and she was given a medical clearance. As part of the conditions for release, all koalas are put into a pre-release yard that contains a tree, where they are monitored to make sure that they can climb and forage for food well. Once she was given the all-clear she was released back to the local area from where she was rescued.
Estimated cost of treatment while in care:

We rely on adoptions and donations to help save koalas and other native wildlife. As we are a not-for-profit organisation, your generosity will help to cover the inevitable costs.
We have Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status which makes it easier for us to fundraise to support the ongoing work of Port Stephens Koala Hospital.
