Koala Name: Rose Coolidge (also known as Wards River Rose)
Rescued: March 2023
Released: September 2023
Reason Rose came into care: While driving along the main road, a member of the public Noticed Rose walking along the road on her own. Realising that Rose was far too small to be on her own, she stopped and collected her and noticed she had a small wound on her back on her shoulder. Rose was taken to the area’s local vet who then called Port Stephens Koala Hospital to collect her and bring her into care.
Treatment provided: Rose was given the same health check that all koalas receive upon admission at the Hospital. Her wounds were cleaned and treated. Rose was confirmed as being too small to be on her own and should have been with her Mum. Luckily, Georgie was also in care at the same time and they quickly they quickly became best buddies and taught each other how to become koalas. Once she was big enough, Rose was released onto a property not far from where she was found which was known to have other koalas.
